What does this light mean, and what about the color? We’ll show you the most common warning indicators, and how the color code system works, so you can tell whether service is urgent, or a feature is simply in use.
Seeing a light come up on the dash can make anyone feel anxious, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s an issue with your vehicle. Below are some common indicator lights and the Toyota color code, so you can better understand your vehicle.
Green or Blue
- You’re cool. These dashboard lights are there to let you know that a particular feature of your Toyota is active.
Yellow or Orange
- Consider these a first-warning sign. Your Toyota is probably fine to drive for a short time, but the Toyota Service Center should be your next stop.
- Do just as you would at a red traffic light and stop immediately. Continuing on your way could seriously damage your Toyota or even worse, you or a passenger. Pull over safely and examine the problem, and if need be, call for a tow.
The most common lights drivers encounter include:
Indicates malfunction in braking system
Signals that the engine oil pressure is too low
Indicates that the Vehicle Stability Control1/Traction Control systems are operating in adverse conditions
Tire Pressure Warning
Signals low tire-inflation pressure
